The core is free.
The hassle is optional.

Build and ship native Ruby apps on your own hardware for $0, forever. Pay only if you'd rather we handle the rest.

RubyEverywhere Core

Do it yourself for $0. Forever.

$0
forever — no account, no trial clock

Everything that turns a plain Rails, Hanami, or Sinatra app into a real native app is free and open source. If you own the right machines, you can build, sign, and release entirely on your own — no subscription, no catch. That's the foundation, and it stays free forever.

See what doing it yourself involves

Everything in Core

  • The full CLI and build tooling, open source
  • Rails, Hanami, and Sinatra support
  • Single-file native binaries — no Electron
  • Build and sign on your own hardware
  • Unlimited apps, unlimited users
  • No account required
  • Community support
  • Free forever — it's a promise

RubyEverywhere Platform

Or let the Platform do it for you.

The Platform runs hosted builds, code signing, notarization, and release management on your behalf. You push your app; we hand back something ready to ship. Same result as doing it yourself — minus the hardware, the certificates, and the babysitting.

Core vs. Platform

Same app either way. You choose who does the busywork.

Nothing in the Platform is locked away from you — it's the same work Core lets you do yourself, done on your behalf.

What it takes Core — you handle it Platform — we handle it
A Mac to build on Yours to own and maintain Ours, in the hosted build fleet
Apple Developer setup You work through the docs Guided, even without a Mac
Signing certificates You figure them out alone Still yours — we walk you through every step
Apple Developer membership $99 a year, paid to Apple $99 a year, paid to Apple
Notarization You script it and babysit it Automatic on every build
Releases and updates You host and wire up feeds Channels, versions, and feeds built in
What it costs $0, forever From $29 a month

The Apple Developer membership is Apple's own fee for anyone shipping signed macOS apps — no plan, ours or anyone else's, can waive it.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Is the core really free?
Yes — free and open source, forever. It's the first thing in our promise, written down so we can be held to it. No feature of Core will ever move behind the subscription.
Do I need a Mac?
With Core, yes — Apple requires a Mac to build, sign, and notarize macOS apps. With the Platform, no: we run the Macs, and certificate setup works from any machine.
Do I need an Apple Developer account?
Yes, on both paths — Apple charges $99 a year for the Developer membership that signed, notarized macOS apps require, and you pay Apple directly. Neither Core nor the Platform can waive it; the Platform just makes the setup painless.
Who owns my signing credentials?
You do. Certificates are created under your own Apple Developer account — the Platform walks you through generating and registering them, no Mac required — and holds them in custody only so builds can be signed on your behalf. You can revoke them at any time.
Can I leave the Platform later?
Any time. Your app is a plain Ruby app and your credentials are yours, so cancelling just means going back to doing the builds yourself with Core. Nothing is held hostage.
What if RubyEverywhere shuts down?
If the hosted Platform ever becomes unsustainable, we'll open-source it so anyone can keep it going — and Core stays free and open source no matter what. You'll never be stranded on something you can't run.
What counts as a hosted build?
Every build the Platform runs for you — pushed from the CLI, built, signed, and notarized on our machines. Builds you run on your own hardware with Core are never counted, metered, or limited. If a big month runs you over, extra builds come in packs — and packs you've bought never expire.
When can I subscribe?
The Platform opens alongside the public launch. Until then the plans above are a preview of what's coming — and Core will be free from day one.

Start free. Stay free. Upgrade when you want your time back.

Free at the core, optional at the edges, open source as the floor.
